Chloroprene Rubber (CR)

CR is very often known in practice under trade names such as Neoprene (DU PONT). CR has a fairly balanced property profile. Appropriate protective agents can be used to achieve quite good ozone and ageing resistance and satisfactory oil resistance. In contrast to NR and the other synthetic rubber grades, CR can also achieve high mechanical values “unfilled”. CR has good flame resistance due to its high chlorine content. It burns within a flame, but extinguishes when the flame is removed.

CR is available for hardness ranges Shore A 25-90.

Areas of application: Wherever good flame resistance, good ageing properties and chemical resistance are required, e.g. conveyor belts, seals, hoses, roller coverings, container linings.
