Glycol

Glycols are dialcohols (divalent alcohols) derived from ethylene glycol. These glycols are used as freezing or antifreeze agents that significantly reduce the freezing point of another substance (e.g. water). They are known to be used as additives for cooling systems or windshield washer systems in motor vehicles. A well-known brand name among radiator protection agents is Glysantin, a BASF trademark that has existed since 1929.
